Fan Night crew goes courtside for Cavs-Hawks Dec. 29

Posted Dec 17 2009 3:50PM

NBA TV announced Thursday that its popular Fan Night studio crew of Ernie Johnson, Kevin McHale and Chris Webber will announce its first game for the network when the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks meet at Philips Arena in Atlanta on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. (ET). Johnson will call play-by-play with McHale and Webber providing analysis, and Craig Sager serving as the sideline reporter.

For this special Fan Night telecast, NBA TV has selected the matchup. All other Tuesday night NBA TV games are selected by fans through an online vote on NBA.com.

NBA TV's Fan Night has experienced a 239 percent increase in fan voting this season, including a record-breaking 180,000 votes for the Dec. 15 Fan Night that featured the Cleveland Cavaliers at the New Jersey Nets. NBA TV is now in its second year of offering Fan Night matchups.

"Having Ernie, Kevin and Chris call the Cavaliers at Hawks game will be a treat for our viewers and a great way to build on their tremendous ability of breaking down the game of basketball," said Bryan Perez, senior vice president and general manager, NBA Digital. "Our Tuesday lineup is a great example of the integration between our linear and digital platforms as well as the ability to engage fans in our programming."

NBA TV tips off its Tuesday programming lineup at 5 p.m. (ET) with The Jump!, an interactive show hosted by Kyle Montgomery alongside analysts Dennis Scott, Brent Barry and NBA.com blogger Sekou Smith. The show streams live on NBA.com each Tuesday at 1 p.m. (ET), prior to its re-airing on NBA TV, and marks the first time that NBA.com programming is repurposed for the 24-hour television network.

At 6 p.m. (ET), NBA TV airs The Beat, the weekly show hosted by Marc Fein with David Aldridge, which covers news and storylines across the league with NBA reporters from across the country as weekly guests.

NBA TV host Rick Kamla and analyst Steve Smith will provide studio coverage throughout the night, including the AutoTrader.com Pregame Show at 6:30 p.m. (ET), T-Mobile Halftime Report and the NBA GameTime presented by Hyundai post-game show.
