Posted Nov 13 2009 10:23PM

DENVER (AP) -- Backup point guard Anthony Carter of the Denver Nuggets is unavailable for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a strained left hip.

Carter's injury is chronic and it flares up from time to time. He'll receive treatment over the weekend and is listed day to day.

He is averaging 3 points and 2.1 assists over 17.1 minutes in relief of starter Chauncey Billups. He's been splitting backup point guard duties with rookie Ty Lawson.
