Again beset by injuries at an alarming rate, the Washington Wizards may be getting two of their starters back by the weekend. A league source indicates that the Wizards expect both forward Antawn Jamison (left shoulder subluxation) and swingman Mike Miller (sprained left shoulder) back for Saturday's game against the Detroit Pistons.
Jamison has missed all of the Wizards' regular season games after suffering the injury Oct. 14 in a preseason game against Cleveland, when he reached out to foul Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Miller injured his shoulder in last week's game against Miami when he collided with Heat guard Mario Chalmers, and aggravated the injury when he returned later in the second half after being fouled by Joel Anthony.
Washington already has spent the last two-plus seasons waiting for Gilbert Arenas' return; its "big three" of Arenas, Butler and Jamison have barely played with one another since April of 2007. The team had expected its depth to be a strength this season, after acquiring Miller and Randy Foye from Minnesota in June and getting Arenas and Brendan Haywood back from season-long injuries.
Ironically, Arenas is, at the moment, the team's only healthy point guard. Backups Javaris Crittenton (left foot surgery) and Mike James (broken left hand) were already out for extended periods of time before Foye sprained his ankle in Washington's 90-76 loss on Tuesday in Miami. It wasn't immediately known how long Foye will be out of action.
