Nets' Hayes injures hamstring vs. Wolves

Posted Oct 28 2009 8:59PM

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- New Jersey Nets forward Jarvis Hayes left the season opener on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves with an injured left hamstring.

Hayes came off the bench in the first quarter, but was injured on the defensive end a few minutes later when he tried to challenge a shot. Hayes had to be helped to the bench by a trainer. A team spokesman said he would not return.

Hayes averaged 8.3 points and 2.5 rebounds during the preseason. Veteran Bobby Simmons came into the game to replace him.
