Kurz, Nevill mark Cavs' first cuts of preseason

Posted Oct 21 2009 12:22AM

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers made their first roster cuts of the preseason, waiving forward Rob Kurz and center Luke Nevill.

Kurz, who played in 40 games last season for Golden State, averaged 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in five exhibition games.

Nevill averaged 2.8 points, 1.8 rebounds in 8.8 minutes over four games. The 7-foot-2 rookie from Utah was brought in primarily so center Shaquille O'Neal would have a big body to bang into during training camp.

Cleveland's roster is at 18 players.
