Finger -- not knee -- injury keeps Arenas out of scrimmages

Posted Oct 2 2009 7:00AM

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The Washington Wizards say Gilbert Arenas has missed scrimmages at training camp because of a finger injury -- not because of any problems with his surgically repaired left knee.

Arenas sat out a scrimmage for the second consecutive day Thursday, although he did participate in drills.

He dislocated the middle finger on his left hand in a pickup game before training camp began, then aggravated it this week.

Arenas had three operations on his left knee in 1 ½ years, and he missed all but two games last season. But Wizards coach Flip Saunders said the knee is not limiting Arenas at the moment, the finger is.
