Brooks to continue as Thunder head coach

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Scott Brooks will continue as the Oklahoma City Thunder coach, general manager Sam Presti said on Wednesday.

After taking over early in the NBA season for P.J. Carlesimo, Brooks proved his ability to communicate with a young team while demonstrating the necessary passion to help players improve, Presti said.

Oklahoma City was 1-13 when Brooks took over on Nov. 22, and was 21-47 afterward.

Brooks spent six years as an NBA assistant coach with the Thunder (2007-08), Denver Nuggets (2003-06) and Sacramento Kings (2006-07) following an 11-year NBA playing career.
