Raptors' O'Neal and Calderon out against Magic

Posted Jan 4 2009 1:50PM

TORONTO (AP) -- Forward Jermaine O'Neal and guard Jose Calderon missed the Toronto Raptors' game Sunday against the Orlando Magic because of injuries.

O'Neal, who has missed three straight games with a sore right knee, is averaging 14 points and 7.0 rebounds. He scored a season-high 36 points in a Dec. 26 win at Sacramento, but left a Dec. 29 loss at Golden State after just nine minutes because of flu-like symptoms and has not played since.

The six-time All-Star missed three games in November with left knee and ankle injuries. He missed 42 games for Indiana last season because of an injured left knee.

Calderon left Friday's home victory over Denver early in the second quarter after straining his right hamstring on a drive to the basket late in the first. It's the same injury that sidelined him for two games in November.

Calderon is averaging 13.1 points and is third in the NBA with 8.7 assists per game.

Toronto coach Jay Triano said Calderon will likely not accompany the team on this week's road trip to Milwaukee and Washington.

Forward Andrea Bargnani made his third straight start in place of O'Neal and guard Will Solomon replaced Calderon.
