Raptors' O'Neal, Kapono out vs. Nuggets

Posted Dec 31 2008 8:42PM

TORONTO (AP) -- Forward Jermaine O'Neal and guard Jason Kapono missed Toronto's game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night because of injuries.

O'Neal, who has a sore right knee, is averaging 14 points and 7.0 rebounds in 28 games. He missed three games last month because of injuries to his left knee and ankle. A six-time All-Star, O'Neal missed 42 games last season because of an injured left knee.

O'Neal scored a season-high 36 points in last Friday's win at Sacramento, but played just nine minutes in Monday's loss at Golden State, skipping the second half with flu-like symptoms.

Kapono, who has a bruised right thigh, is averaging 8.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 31 games. Kapono replaced Anthony Parker in Toronto's starting lineup on Dec. 10 and had started 11 consecutive games.

Forward Andrea Bargnani and Parker replaced O'Neal and Kapono in Toronto's starting lineup.

With O'Neal and Kapono both inactive, Hassan Adams was activated for the Raptors.
