Jazz's Boozer to have left knee surgery

Posted Dec 30 2008 6:15PM

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Boozer has missed 21 straight games because of a strained quad tendon he sustained during a Nov. 17 game against Milwaukee.

The Jazz said in a statement Tuesday that a date for the surgery has not been set, but doctors said it likely wouldn't occur until Jan. 9. Boozer, who had been averaging 20.5 points and 11.7 rebounds, will continue rehabilitation until then.

The Jazz face the Lakers in Los Angeles on Friday.
