Stoudemire, James named Players of the Week

The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Phoenix Suns' Amar'e Stoudemire today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Nov. 3-9.

James' league-best 34.5 ppg last week helped Cleveland to a 4-0 mark. With wins over Dallas, Indiana and Chicago twice, the Cavaliers upped their season record to 5-2 and sit alone atop the Central Division. James added 9.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest.

With his second steal against Dallas on Nov. 3, James became the youngest (23 years, 308 days) and fastest (395 games) to eclipse the following milestones: 10,000 points, 2,500 rebounds, 2,500 assists, 700 steals and 300 blocks.

Stoudemire led the Suns to a 3-1 week, including victories over the Nets, Pacers and Bucks. Stoudemire averaged 28.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks on the week. He erupted for 49 points on 17-of-21 shooting from the field and 15-of-15 shooting from the foul line in the Suns' 113-103 victory at Indiana on Nov. 5. For the week, Stoudemire shot .646 (31-of-48) from the field and .927 (51-of-55) from the charity stripe.

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

Nov. 3 at Dallas: Tallied 29 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 100-81 victory over the Mavericks.

Nov. 5 vs. Chicago: Scored a season high 41 points, and added nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 107-93 win over the Bulls.

Nov. 7 vs. Indiana: Recorded 27 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four blocks in a 111-107 win over the Pacers.

Nov. 8 at Chicago: Matched a season high with 41 points and added 13 rebounds and four assists in a 106-97 win against the Bulls.

Amar'e Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns

Nov. 4 at New Jersey: Scored 14 points and added five rebounds and two blocks in a 114-86 win over the Nets.

Nov. 5 at Indiana: Poured in 49 points and added 11 rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks in a 113-103 win over the Pacers.

Nov. 7 at Chicago: Tallied 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 100-83 loss to the Bulls.

Nov. 8 at Milwaukee: Recorded 24 points and five rebounds in the Suns' 104-96 win over the Bucks.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta's Joe Johnson, Boston's Ray Allen, Golden State's Andris Biedrins, Miami's Dwyane Wade, New York's Zach Randolph, Orlando's Dwight Howard, Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge, Sacramento's Kevin Martin and Utah's Carlos Boozer.
