Posted Nov 1 2008 6:29PM

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Pacers have signed forward Danny Granger to a contract extension.

The 6-foot-9 Granger has averaged 13.7 points per game in his three seasons. Last year, he registered career-best averages in points (19.6), rebounds (6.1), steals (1.1) and 3-point field goal percentage (.404).

He was the Pacers' first-round draft pick ? 17th overall ? in the 2005 NBA Draft.

Terms of the contract extension haven't been announced.

Granger says he's very excited about the direction the Pacers are going and he's glad to have a part in their future.

Pacers' president of basketball operations Larry Bird says Granger is a very important part of the team's future.
