Nets waive Van Horn, three others

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Forward Keith Van Horn, who had not appeared in an NBA game since the 2005-06 season, was among four players the New Jersey Nets waived in reducing their roster to the 15-man limit.

Guards Eddie Gill and Julius Hodge and forward Brian Hamilton were also released on Thursday.

Van Horn was acquired in the eight-player trade that sent Jason Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks in February.

Gill appeared in six games during the preseason, averaging 4.5 points and one assist. The five-year NBA veteran has averaged 3.1 points and 1.1 assists in 181 career games with New Jersey, Memphis, Portland and Indiana.

Hamilton had one point and five rebounds in three preseason games.

Hodge averaged of 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in four preseason games. In two NBA seasons with Denver and Milwaukee, Hodge appeared in 23 games, averaging 1.2 points.
