DENVER (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony is questionable for the Denver Nuggets' preseason opener against Minnesota after bruising his left ring finger.

Anthony injured the finger when he had the ball slapped out of his hand during practice Thursday. He had the hand wrapped up Friday at practice, but X-rays were negative.

The 24-year-old averaged 25.7 points a game last season and a career-high 7.4 rebounds. He helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics over the summer.

The Nuggets play the Timberwolves Friday night. Chucky Atkins will miss the game with an injured knee and Sonny Weems will be out with a groin injury.
