LAS VEGAS, August 31, 2007 -- While the United States has dominated the competition thus far at the FIBA Americas Championship (and no matter how much they've dominated, if they lose Saturday, it was all for naught), there have still been some noteworthy performances from players representing other countries.

So, with the help of Alaa Abdelnaby, who has been providing analysis on NBA TV's coverage of the tourney, here are 11 notable non-.U.S. players, some of whom you should know better than others.

Abdelnaby: "Until Thursday's game against Canada, Arroyo had struggled from the day he got to Vegas. As he goes, so does Puerto Rico. They've got other good players, but it's really all about Carlos Arroyo. When he struggled, they did as well."

Abdelnaby: "He has struggled in this tournament. He's still going to get his points, but he's struggled shooting-wise. And when he doesn't have someone like Steve Nash to play off of, when the onus is on him, he's not a go-to kind of guy where he can break you down. He's just faster than anybody in the gym and he doesn't need moves. That works in the Phoenix system. He's been a little hampered the way Brazil has been playing, especially against the big teams."

8 35.5 20.8 12.4 1.0 1.50 0.38 .500 .200 .655
Abdelnaby: "What I love about him is his motor. He's got an unbelievable motor. His energy is non-stop. He competes night in and night out. And for a big, he's got great hands. He's a good post player. He can put the ball on the floor a little bit. But everything he does, he does strong. And that's what I love about him."

Romel Beck, MEX
G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
7 29.0 20.3 2.4 1.7 1.43 0.00 .589 .400 .815
Abdelnaby: "Romel Beck played great. I don't understand, at 25 years old, how he hasn't had a shot at making a team in the NBA, because he can do everything out on the floor. He can pass, he can defend, he can shoot, he can drive. There's really not much this youngster can't do. I think his problem is, when he gets pushed around a little bit -- he's frail, he's wiry -- then you don't see him as aggressive as he should be."

8 30.6 14.6 7.1 3.4 2.13 0.00 .382 .375 .692
Abdelnaby: "Delfino started off the tournament with a weak first game, but then what I liked about the way he progressed throughout the tournament is that he's let it come to him. He hasn't forced it. You saw how Barbosa, when he wasn't shooting well, kept on shooting and shooting his way out of the game. Delfino doesn't do that. He knows that there are so many other things he can do on this team, defend or rebound, pick up the energy. Even when his shot's not going, he still brings a lot to the table. That's the sign of a winner right there."

Marcelinho Machado, BRA
G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
8 25.8 11.0 4.0 3.6 2.13 0.00 .364 .346 .824
Abdelnaby: "I love his game. It seems like whenever they need a big shot, he's involved, whether it's a two-man game or whether it's just him coming off a screen shooting. He's clutch. He's got a great understanding of the game. And what I love about him is that he plays everything in rhythm. If it's his shot, he knows when to take it. Nothing he does looks out of place out there on the floor. He's a complete ballplayer."

Nicolas Mazzarino, URU
G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
8 30.0 15.8 1.1 2.8 0.63 0.00 .494 .532 .731
Abdelnaby: "Mazzarino's a good ball player. It took him a while to get into this tournament, but once he got started, he's played well. He gets it with the inside-out action with Batista, who gets gets attention down low. Mazzarino's a corner guy. A lot of these teams space the floor great. And all you've got to do is find corner guys, and he's always spotting up in the corner. He doesn't look like a player, but he is."

Pablo Prigioni, ARG

Abdelnaby: "Here's a guy that is an assist machine. But also, in this tournament, because Argentina's stars aren't there, he's been asked to score a little bit more. And surprisingly for me, he's done that and not lost the ability to dish. That's a huge plus. I like his game a lot."

Hector Romero, VEN
G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
8 34.3 19.9 7.5 2.4 1.13 0.88 .430 .455 .740
Abdelnaby: "He's not a bad ball player. You could tell that they needed more help on that team. If they had more help, he would be able to shine. But the fact that he had to do it all out a lot of burden on him. That being said, he can put the ball on the floor. He's got the ability to drive. He can shoot a little bit. Like Batista, he's a guy that is tough and battles."

Luis Scola, ARG
G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
8 27.3 18.1 7.6 1.9 0.50 0.38 .552 .000 .780
Abdelnaby: "I've seen a lot of Luis (calling Euroleague games) over the last couple of years. And he's playing better than I've seen him play in a long time. He's playing to his strengths. He's cutting to the basket. He's got a great nose for the hoop. And with the way Argentina has been playing, it's been playing to his strengths, which is getting up and down the floor."

G MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
8 24.1 11.3 7.3 1.3 0.50 1.38 .565 1.000 .500
Abdelnaby: "He's another guys who's playing better than I've ever seen him play. I like the fact that he looks like he's become a little bit bigger body-wise. In my opinion, his downfall has always been his lack of physical play. When it gets physical, he shies away. That hasn't been the case in this tournament. He's really starting to throw his body around. He's getting comfortable being physical, because there's a process to that. He's long, and like Scola, can run the floor with the best of the bigs."
